Day 29

Not much imagination for this one, sorry.

Day 28

I was concerned as the day was closing, I had not taken a photo for the day, when I saw this sign, which I drive past every day, and had earmarked it for this project. So it was an immediate reaction to quickly stop and capture it as well as I could, I did not have my tripod, which resulted in this style.

Day 27

Nothing to write.

Day 26

Australia Day 26th of January 2010
Sherbrooke Forest, part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park 35km east of Melbourne.

Day 25

The drive from Melbourne to Adelaide, many sights along the way worthy for a stop a a few photos, I limited my stops for photos to only two or three, otherwise I would not be home yet.

Day 24

The city of Adelaide, Australia, January 24th 2010. Stage 6 of the Tour Down Under.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Day 23

Stage 5 of the Tour Down Under, Willunga, Alejandro Valverde and Cadel Evans race to the finish line to finish 3rd and 4th.

Day 22

While driving to Adelaide we drove by a bush fire in the Grampians National Park, it was out of control at the time and was started by lightning an hour and a half earlier. It was contained after burning 1700 hectares.

Day 21

Local agapanthus, not native to Australia, originated in South Africa. Were used as a colourful garden flower for decades but are now rightfully known as weeds.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Day 20

Some grasses blowing in the evening breeze, they are in an protected area, not sure if they are protecting the grasses or the trees. I think I will endeavour to discover the answer to that.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Day 19

I enjoy the added dimension clouds can add to a photo when they some shape, depth and varying shades. This image with a plan blue sky would not have appealed to me at all, while with these clouds, it does.

Day 18

First day back to work, and it was cool and wet, I did not mind one bit.
Not much photography happening today though.

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Day 17

Not much to say about this photo, somewhere I am comfortable and at home.
Tomorrow will be a new test for the project.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Day 16

Hanging around at the local playground will always result in a few opportunities.

Day 15

Another day, but not just another day, the only day 15 I will have this year, has been okay so far. Whatever the result of this project, I would like to think this will not be my only attempt, might even try a theme based 365 next time.

Day 14

My image did not want to upload, initially, but eventually it did.
When I started setting up this was not what I was planning, I saw part of it through the lens. This is the result.

Day 13

Just played around with depth of field, selective focus.

Day 12

One idea is to read and look through the reading material I have in search of ideas, not to copy but to branch off from. I have quite a collection.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Day 11

Not much to say about this one, 44.3 degrees celcius in the shade (111.7f)

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Day 10

Thankfully, the weather played it's part for me today, makes my part easier.
This is truly how it looked.

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Day 9

Another local feature, a five minute drive from home, I often stop here when the lighting is right.

Friday, January 8, 2010

Day 8

Not too much thought went into this one, just a local park, which has been closed to the public for a few years. This was taken standing on the roadside guardrail to avoid the cyclone fence being in the shot.

Day 7

Summer holidays in Australia is about spending time with family and friends. Enjoying good company, good food, a nice glass of wine, and cold beer under the Sun.

Day 6

I caught a glimpse of the outdoor Christmas lights box, at 11pm, ah now there is an idea. Left them coiled up placed them on the floor, plugged them in, took a variety of shots with different camera movement, then some with the camera mounted on my tripod and zoomed in during the exposure. Was good fun.

Danger time!

It is 11pm, I have taken some images, nothing good....it is only day 6! Maybe I can create something while under pressure.

Day 5

On location in Williamstown for the Jayco Bay Cycling. Fantastic weather, great event, hundreds of photos and took me some time to choose this one. I used a 17-40mm wide zoom to capture the whole corner. I will most likely post a few onto my Redbubble folio.

Why? (Day 5)

My idea about Project365, basically is about the desire to improve my photography. So will challenging myself to take at least one new photo every day for one year achieve that?
I honestly don't know. In 2009, I used my main camera on individual days, and my second camera on another 8 days! Not a high percentage of days. No wonder I have not felt a sense of achievement from the work I have created. I could look back further and basically have similar number results for year after year.
It makes perfect sense to try complete Project365 based on those efforts.
I do think I will be more familiar with my equipment, the functions will become second nature, I won't have to remember how to change a particular setting, I will just know it straight off. Practice will improve my success rate at achieving technically sound images, that will be satisfying,
but great photography is about how it feels.
That must come from somewhere else.

Day 4

JD normally doesn't sit still for very long, he is very much loved by my kids.

Day 4 Blog Blog

I started early today, at 5.30AM I woke with ideas for project 365. I need to keep a note pad next to the bed so I don't forget them forever.
One idea resulted in me setting up the camera straight away, so I have some images for day 4 already.

Concept

Hi all,

I have decided to set myself the challenge of taking at least one interesting photo per day for the whole of 2010
I have no idea how far I will get into the year, I hope to complete it, but time will tell.
My reason for trying this was simple, I often go for months without taking a picture, which is not really the way to improve my photography. I am hoping this project is not counter productive.
I suspect some images might be rushed, and some might be appalling.

If anybody wants to join in and do the same, even if it is for just one week, or one month, that would be great, post a reply so we can all keep an eye on you too.

Day 3

Back yard cricket, the great Australian tradition.
Here Josh decided to kneel down because the bat was
short and he found it easier.

Day 2

My neighbors Burmese cat peaking in my bedroom window, he hangs around my house quite a lot and loves to try to sneak inside at any chance he gets.

Day 1

This is one of the fish used during the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games celebrations.
